The Happiness Project

Yesterday I was up at 4am to get ready and leave for work, so I was very tired when I wrote my first post. Silly me, I forgot to mention the very first piece of inspiration that made me want to be happier and live my life to its fullest. The Happiness Project is a novel written by Gretchen Rubin and it is an amazing read. I read this book a few months ago and it opened my eyes to some aspects of my life that I want to change and improve on in order to ultimately, be happier (not that I am not happy now, because I am!). Here is a link to Gretchen Rubin's website about her Happiness Project, I suggest taking a peak. In a way, this blog is the beginning of my happiness project. Because of the huge influence this book has had on my decision to start the process of becoming happier myself and living life to its fullest I am going to add another page to my blog titled My Happiness Project where I will describe my journey to improving different aspects of my life, my struggles, tips, and accomplishments.

I got home from work about 40 min ago and I made myself a coffee and started to watch a new show I wanted to "try out" called The Revolution. As I was watching (although a fairly good show) I started to drift off. I tend to do this EVERY day when I get home from work. I will fall asleep on the couch for about an hour. Well it's time to stop this. I have MANY things I can do with my time and I don't need the extra sleep as I have a great sleep every night. So, I pulled out my laptop and here I am writing my second blog post :) I am already feeling more awake and my eyes are no longer struggling to stay open. I saw on a TV show a few weeks ago that a 20 min walk can rejuvenate a person more than a 15 min nap (which has also been said to rejuvenate a person) -- after I am finished writing, and after I have supper in the slow cooker, I am going to bring Rory (our Chocolate Lab) for a walk and see if it will actually wake me up even more.

I do have a bit more to say on the topic of happiness, but I feel this belongs in my new Happiness Project page so I am going to head over there and create my first post on that page....see you soon!

My Journey Begins

The past two months I have discovered many websites and blogs that I have never been exposed to before and they have inspired me to create my own blog. I have mauled over many ideas of what I want this blog to be about: my every day life, crafts, home makeover...so, I have decided to devote this blog to all three...and, maybe in the future, even more! I will have to start off small so I do not quit one day into this by taking on too much, but I am determined to make this work!

One of the websites that I have discovered in the past two months is Pinterest. I am OBSESSED with this website and every night when I browse the site, I feel so crafty when I have done nothing but sit on the couch and stare at my computer screen. I finally have decided to do something other than LOOK at the projects I have found. From Pinterest, I have followed links to many craft blogs, which have ultimately inspired me to create this blog. The pages I plan to develop include:

Home Makeover: My fiance Kyle and I had a house built about 2 years ago. We are young (and are saving for our wedding, July 14, 2012!) resulting in a lack of decor and design in our home. Also, most of our furniture is mismatched. So, I am going to take on a home makeover. Deigning one room at a time by creating homemade decor and refurnishing some of the existing pieces in our home spending as little money as possible.

Crafts: I have so many craft projects that I want to try. So, this is where I will post the projects that I create. I have already completed a few and will have to post them soon :)

Life: Here I will discuss my life goals (my sister and I are starting a weight loss/fitness project soon...more to follow).

To be honest, I have been very lazy lately and a bit down in the dumps. I feel tired all the time and it is REALLY hard for me to get motivated. But, what I have noticed is that I am very happy when I am planning crafts and looking at the potential projects I could make; therefore, I am hoping that by creating this blog and other projects, I will add some extra happiness and joy into my life. Wish me luck with this blog and the many projects that are to come! I am new to this, so bare with me :)
